The Big Sur coastline looking North
This was the third week of our vacation with perfect weather to match. We drove down the coast to Cambria and had a great time antiquing as well as exploring the coast. |

Pigeon point Light house
Even though we have been here many times it never fails to be a wonderfull place to stop and look out over the ocean. |

Wadell Beach, one of americas best windsurfing beaches
We stopped here and were so busy photographing, that we both ended up with a sunburn. Well worth it though as these guys get 40+ feet up in the air, it was great to watch. |

Mendocino Botanical Gardens
Julie took this one while we walked through these amazing gardens, perched on the mendocino coast. We spent the week in Fort Brag at the same bed and breakfast we stayed in 15 years ago, it was even better than the first time. |

The corpse flower, in the Berkley Botanical gardens.
The corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum) planted 10 years ago will bloom for only two days before it begins to disintegrate. The bloom has some of the same chemicals that dead bodies produce and once open, the spiked, bright red bloom even resembles rotting meat, a veritable welcome mat for the insects that pollinate it -- flies and carrion beetles. The flower is currently more than 7 feet high and at least that wide when it opens up. A native of Sumatra, seeds were bought to the USA by botanical explorer James Symon
